Gamesmaker has a free download and is pretty basic. Depending on your experience level the book Game Programming for Teens is a good starting source if you are serious and is found at most book stores. It comes with software demos to help get you familiar with that area of programming. Next goto amazon and type in 3D animation in the search and you'll find everything from anime 5 pro to Carrebella-(I butchered the spelling sorry). Game develpoement is overwhelming at first but once you struggle past the first few steps of game creation it's really simple yet time consuming. Good luck!

i dont know anything particular but i know there out there ....I do know that microsoft was creating software that would allow people to make games and even patent the game they made with that microsoft software..... I think a game simmilar to tetras was made and got really popular.... but you could buy like elderscrolls 4 "Oblivion"( a computer game) and use the included map editor for a bit of game making fun.

I dont know any but I just wanted to say that creating a video game cannot be done by one person (the pong game you suggested is around the limitation of your ability, you can do it yourself maybe with Flash). As for creating video games, you need a team. You alone cannot create the engine (which you'll use to creat the game), create animations and objects and the things for the game, create the sounds and put things together all by yourself. However, you can pick to be one of those (cause they're different majors and no one can be ALL) you can be either a programmer (to programmer the engine) or a 3D artist (in charge of creating the models and objects and giving them animations) or maybe a sound editor (as well as other jobs). I'm interested in creating video games like yourself, these things where you control people and live another world has always fascinated me. Seeing Lara Croft going through caves and temples and tombs and going through beautiful places and moving in a very attractive way has always made me fascinated, The people in Sims 2, the wars in strategy games, controlling players to win a match in FIFA or Winning eleven has always fascinated and I've always wanted to make something like that. I'm now studying computer science and am planning to go abroad after that, maybe to the US, and go into the gaming industry...You can go to google.com or yahoo.com and search for games development or the gaming industry, you'll be amazed at how many results you'll get and who knows, maybe you'll find a book that'll guide you. Good luck
