| ASP is much more English if you are starting to learn the program. Php is much more easier to learn due to the amount of materials available online. Depends on your timeline, i will say you learn php cause there are alot of open source applications builded on top of php. There are not much development tools for these two programs, The web server to deploy ASP codes can be easily installed in Windows XP via IIS Server. The web server to deploy PHP codes can be easily installed in Windows XP via IIS Server. Database will have to be mysql server for all languages. |

| I think it's really a personal things. I program in both and quite enjoy both of them equally. If you're going to do a lot of database interaction, I'd recommend php, because a) is more readily available and b) it generally comes with mySQL packaged - where as ASP generally needs to have MSSQL added on (a lot of Hosting companies charge more for Windows hosting as well). But my advice, play around with both to see which you like. |
