Hello, world! Tutorial with variable.

I hope you read my last tutorial "Hello, world! Tutorial", i will be using a similar code with variables, the only big difference will be that to make the text appear on the screen i will be using the echo function instead of the print function as the echo function is much quicker but it works in the same way so i wont be explaining it.

Code:
PHP Code:
<?php
$start
"Hello";
$mid ", ";
$end "World";

echo
"$start$mid$end";

?>
What it means:
First we declare the variables, to do this you need to use a $ symbol followed by a name, take mine for example $start, you then assign a value to it, in this case i assigned "Hello" so it looks like $start = "Hello" then like most things in php you have to add a semi-colon at the end.

Please note:

Code:
Variable Naming Rules

    * A variable name must start with a letter or an underscore "_"
    * A variable name can only contain alpha-numeric characters and underscores (a-Z, 0-9, and _ )
    * A variable name should not contain spaces. If a variable name is more than one word, it should be separated with underscore ($my_string), or with capitalization ($myString)
so to sum up the variables they finish as:
$var_name = "Value";

The next part of the code is the echo to display the variables that make up 2 words:
PHP Code:
echo "$start$mid$end"
We have to use double quotes to display are text this time because we are displaying variables, if we did not use variables in this then we would only have to use single quotes.

To Display the variable we place it inside the quotes and we put $var_name as we want no extra spaces in our echo we squash them all together so we get the final output on are page:

HTML Code:
Hello, World
Thanks for reading, i hope this has helped you Try making your own up with words or numbers in variables.
