Internet help

ive been using my macbook for a long time now so ive never had problems connecting to my internet via wireless router. But i decided to get my pc up and running again so i rebuilt it and reformatted it and hardwired it to the router.. With all the cables correctly hooked up i cannot seem to get the internet working. I have no idae on how to get this working so if anyone could help thatd be great.. oh yea im running windows xp professional, have verizon dsl and i have a netgear wireless router

i dont have any software for it... last time i had this pc connected to the internet when i was reformatting it, it asked if i was already connected directly to the internet. so i would just click yes and it would work fine but it didnt ask me that this time so i can get it working hah

Sorry, I really can't see why doesn't it work if it's a hard wired PC
Even linux detect it automatically...
