Hi,I've installed XAMPP on my PC but cant run this following code

put the code inside htdocs folder, then run it on localhost/file.php

This will work if you have not changed any of the setting in the config file, have you changed any of the settings?

No, I've not changed any setting in the config file.I think I have to set global variables ON.Whenever I use the variable as $_POST["name"] its running properly.But I dont want to do like this.And I've also put my files in the htdocs folder so that whenever I type http://localhost/filename.php I get the output.

Programming to require registering globals will ultimately only cause you headaches. The logic behind them turning it off by default in PHP 5 is pretty solid.
