[SOLVED] What really distinguishes AJAX programming from traditional web programming.

Thanks for answering my doubt. I tried some samples, but ran into the XmllHttpRequest cross domain request issue. What's the right way to solve the cross domain request issue? I saw couple of solutions, from a desing stand point both of them seemed to be hacks.
