[SOLVED] I have a program named Python 2.2.1 and also combined with Win32 extensions.

What is this and do I need it? I came accross a program in my Add or Remove Programs menu named Python 2.2.1 and Python 2.2 combined Win32 extensions. Can anybody tell what this program is used for and if i need it?

Python is a scripting computer language. Unless you're really into it, there's no good reason why you should have it on your computer. But it's not really that big of a deal since it really doesn't take up that much space.

Hi, I found this thread through Google.
AVG has found a Trojan Horse on my archived Python 2.2.1
PHP/MPack.B (I cannot find any info. about this Trojan)
It cannot heal it.
So I was trying to find out if it's OK to delete Python 2.2.1 without harming the computer.
The above would seem to say 'yes,' but I'm just not sure.
I'm wondering if the problem came when I had to do a system recovery recently and then had to change the language on the keyboard, from American English to English English
Would be glad of advice. Thanks.

If you have just "Found" it on your computer - then it was probably put there and installed from another application... and needs Python to run properly. It's not hurting anything by being there, I would just leave it

as I said, there is a Trojan attached to it...embedded.

It cannot be healed, i.e. removed from the file.

That is why I am asking if it's ok to delete the file itself.

When I say 'harming' - mean I am trying to find out if it's essential as it seems to be about the language itself.

AVG (my anti-virus programme) has found a Trojan Horse on my archived Python 2.2.1

Sorry, I personally never done anything with Python related. But why can't you just reinstall everything out? Shouldn't everything going to be removed and be replaced with the new one...?

don't think so, somehow...
