I think the blue background makes it look too at your face kind of thing maybe you could put a pattern on it or maybe a different colour/shade of blue, possibly try without the gradient.

I like the banner a lot so i think you have to keep that, the navigation bar with the spilitters at either side also look very good, however the red text just under the nav on the right just doesnt look like it fits in too well and also i think that there is too much from the red rectangles, maybe just have the small or just have the big one, alternitavly you can maybe changet the colours?

well its only my opinion, dont take it as a bad thing other people im sure will say different things.
