Postrgresql kicks the butt out of MySQL (well used to)... but it had such strong support from PHP... and php made integrated functions directly for mySQL. MySQL used to suck compared to PostGres then they got innoDB tables. MySQL just recently got stord procs, triggers, etc... with mysql 5... now MySQL is catching up but it's amazing how lesser products can become more popular.
