I have not used wine but the version of linux i used came with something that did the same job, it will just run applications like it would in windows by using this so i guess its kind of a virtual machine.

As for you list of programs i would think they would all work if you set them up right and ran them through something like wine apart from IIS as thats for windows and windows only as far as i know, that is why when you get a web host and they have linux running you can not run pages like .asp pages but then the effects are the same if you get a windows server some things will be left out and linux is most recommended.
