I'm talking about Software Application, and not Operating System
As for gaming, there are many pretty cool games that's created only based on the web environment such as
RuneScape - the massive online adventure game by Jagex Ltd which I think made of Java. I don't have neccessary information about whether Software Companies that develop these languages such as Sun or Microsoft will have a specific development that will enable us to create better 3D effect on Web Environment or not, but I'm pretty sure that there must be a research in a particular field...
